Strengthen Your Nervous System

Neural therapy works to balance and revitalize the autonomic central nervous system — the very system that regulates and creates harmony between each organ of the body. Any type of disturbance affecting the nervous system can detrimentally affect all functions of the body, including hormones, digestion and immunity.

At West Vancouver Wellness Centre, we use a neural therapy system researched and developed by Dr. Ferdinand Huneke, MD in Germany. Since the 1940s, his methods have been proven safe and effective in treating various health conditions. That is why neural therapy is still widely used throughout Europe.

What’s Affecting Your Central Nervous System?

Disturbances can come from just about anywhere; scars (old and new), points of infection and infectious agents, injury sites, trigger points, toxic intrusion, as well as emotional distress — all these sources can have a negative impact on the nervous system and thus your whole sense of health and well-being. Some other causal agents of nervous system disorders include:

  • Whiplash Injuries

  • C-Sections

  • Laparoscopy

  • Appendectomy

  • Spinal Surgery

Nerves require unimpeded “flow” for optimal function to occur. Any compromise in this nerve flow can result in dysfunction, pain, disability and chronic disease. By removing these blockages or interference fields affecting the nervous system, we can help restore your body’s natural balance. This is achieved through the careful application of neural therapy.

Using a local anaesthetic combined with B vitamins and botanical extracts, neural therapy involves micro-injections into and around nerve ganglia, acupuncture points, scarred tissue, muscle trigger points and other tissues. This allows for the unimpeded flow of nerves, thereby alleviating pain and restoring healthy nerve function to specific organ systems. In utilizing a local anaesthetic, such as procaine, the intention is not to anaesthetize or numb the nerve, but rather to change the membrane potential temporarily. This is done with the expectation that when the anaesthetic wears off, the membrane will change and nerve function will return to normal.

The positive effects of neural therapy can be immediate or delayed. Often times, one treatment can be enough to alleviate the situation, depending on the goal and condition being treated. In some cases, several treatments may be required. The more common conditions that benefit from neural therapy include: back and neck pain, post-traumatic conditions, chronic pain from whiplash and head injury, joint pain, muscle pain and athletic injuries. Jaw and head pain, post-surgical pain (including dental procedures), digestive disturbances, sinusitis, hypothyroidism, muscle injuries, organ dysfunctions and scar disturbances also benefit from neural therapy.
